Who are the staff?
Cedar Ridge Camp staff are highly trained and dedicated to the programs they run. Most importantly, they love working with kids and sharing the joy of summer camp. The majority of Cedar Ridge staff have been campers at Cedar Ridge for a number of years and have completed our Leaders in Training program, a summer-long training program that prepares them for a role as a staff member.
Our staff come from a variety of different backgrounds and each has a unique perspective to offer to the camp experience. We have had staff members and leaders in training join us from as far away as France, Spain, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Hong Kong, Sweden, and the U.S. This offers a great opportunity for campers to learn about different parts of the world.
We have a 3:1 camper-staff ratio. Each cabin group of 6-8 campers has its own dedicated counsellor and leader in training. In addition, each activity has a qualified instructor to ensure that campers are safe and learning new skills. All staff are required to have their Bronze Cross swimming & lifeguarding level and their emergency first aid certification. In addition to the Leaders in Training program, all staff attend a week-long orientation prior to each summer. Here, they participate in intensive training about the individual activities and the ins and outs of being a counsellor, from homesickness to bulling prevention to great games.
The Cedar Ridge Staff is looking forward to seeing you this summer 🙂
